Ahhh awards shows. A night of glitz, glamour, and glaring… the latter of course has much to do with bright lights and scornful losers. The pictures below show… well, a typo: it’s actually MY awards show called KYX Music Awards (“Kami Young Xciting!”). but i know how monstrously demanding putting a night together like this is; i have forgiven the errant production team and wished them luck in their future endeavours (in short, they were fired).

Grab a copy of Pupil’s new album Limiters of the Infinity Pool. My favorite song in the album is 20/20 and that’s not because Francis played additional guitars for it, but I heard it the first time during the Tears for Fears concert last year. I think that song is spiritual in a sense, but that’s how I personally feel about it.
We stole our copy from Kim, nyehehehe.
I posted other pics prior to this, click to see Shawn Yao, Kim Marvilla and Mikey Amistoso’s photos.
Pupil Listening Party Photos
More photos of the post new year’s party from Nins blog. She took most of the photos that night. :)
The last time I organized a party was in 2002. I don’t remember a thing about it. I think almost 200 people arrived at our house, half of those were people I don’t know who just crashed the place. There were so many people they spilled out to the garage. It was a joint celebration of a friend’s birthday, then some friends of his wanted to join in and then I just lost track of who’s with who and whatever.
Those people just found out there was a party and decided to go despite the major storm that day. People made out in dark corners, a girl I don’t know passed out on the toilet with her underwear down, smoke was so thick you could get high by accident and an unknown heavy metal band played. It was EPIC. For a split second that night I thought I was going to be a lesbian.
I don’t know if anybody had a camera then. People spoke about that party, but no one has any remembrance whatsoever haha. I don’t have photos!
This time around I kept it secret and told only my closest friends. I’m getting old. I don’t want to be stressed, haha! Francis seemed to like organizing and he wants to organize a bigger one. Yikes. I think you must experience and organize one huge party at least in your life. I think I’m pretty much done with it. I’m thankful I just didn’t get in trouble the last time.
There are just tons of photos, but I couldn’t post them all without having my blog look like spam. So I just randomly chose these. :)
Thank you friends! Until the next one! You can watch the video of part of that night here
More photos under the cut…
King Crimson’s Robert Fripp once said, “I’m the kind of person i wouldn’t invite to my own party.” It’s nice to know that one of my heroes feels the way i do. But i digress too early…
I’m not fond of parties, and i rarely go to any. If i did in the past, it was a professional obligation. This year, Nins decided to hold one for a few friends. i think she brought it up after i was all giddy from cooking fried rice (it was good) so i instantly said, “Yeah! and I’LL COOK!!!”
However, we ended up cleaning so i didn’t get to cook. I was a bit anxious; i don’t go to parties, and hosting one is even worse. but i’m glad we did, and the only downside is we couldn’t invite all our friends. To those we weren’t able to invite, i’ll make it up to you, in six months on my next birthday :) And i’ll cook, and we’ll put cellophane on the lights like we did here so everyone looks good hehe
We had a blast :D i won’t put captions… i’m enjoying the memories :D

I wasn’t always there during Christmas parties in NU107. i make no apologies for my past absences even if i may have missed out on some great fun times. i had my reasons, which may have had to do with a gig i had to rush off to or an appointment that could not be ignored. This year, there i was, having fun. i didn’t take home a killer prize (i took home a portable CD player one time, and forfeited a rice cooker due to my absence another year) but i got reminded of the most important thing…
This is HOME.
Home is comfort, safety. It’s always there. You tend to take it for granted. You don’t always agree with the things done there, but at the same time you’re willing to defend the people who threaten it. They are family. NU107 has been my professional home since ‘88, and i’ve worked with people that i loved and a few others i disliked, personally and/or professionally (and sometimes both). Some even like (or dislike) me back. Families are like that yeah?
Enough sentimental BS; the above is quite enough. i’m just happy to be part of the family, regardless of how the other family members perceive me, and vice versa :)
